Our Vision

Supporting you to support struggling young people.

Our Vision

We believe that a successful education has the power to change lives. Our experience of work with struggling students is that the issues students face related to poverty, trauma and safeguarding are often key to their progress. We want to give schools the expertise to deal with these issues to help students reach their classrooms ready to learn.

We also believe not every student can thrive in mainstream education and that there is a place for high quality alternative provision. Our experience of leading alternative provisions and seeing the lives changed by their practice brings a wealth of knowledge we can share.

Our drive to help young people succeed takes a holistic view and means our work spans education and the charity sector. We recognise both the importance of quality teaching and learning but also the key part that feeling safe and supported can play in a young persons journey to success.

Research tells us that the chronic stressors involved in growing up in poverty affect the brain and the ability to learn effectively. With upwards of 3.9 million children living in poverty across the country and the attainment gap for disadvantaged pupils refusing to close we believe addressing poverty is of key importance to making sure pupils succeed in their education.

In the past schools may have been able to concentrate on classroom practice as a solution to poor outcomes but in a cost of living crisis and with a social care system under pressure they are often having to step into the gap for families.

We exist to help leaders in schools and charities ‘close the gaps’ for young people. We work to bring support and expertise, primarily to meet the social needs and give the safeguarding security that is needed for young people to succeed.

Running through all we do is a passion to help ‘close the gaps’ for disadvantaged young people. After our experience of leading in a school that has consistently closed the gap for disadvantaged pupils we know it can be done. We also know the impact that safeguarding support and a trauma-informed approach can have on young people, their families and their life chances.
